Every Ride Marshal also has a Course Marshalling assignment. You will be provided backup support by two roaming SAG teams as well as SAG teams stationed at each rest stop and at Drew. Please call for their assistance if you encounter any situations where you may require additional support. You should leave the start point no later than 30 minutes before the 'Starts at' time so that you can arrive at your Course Marshalling assignment ahead of the other riders. You should remain at your course marshalling assignment until you are reasonably sure all riders have past. Ride Marshal/Sweep - 63 Mile Gravel The role of a Ride Marshal is to provide encouragement, guidance and assistance for riders and to assure that they have an enjoyable and safe experience. This assignment will have you patrolling the portion of the route that is closed to the regular SAG vehicles: the approx. 14-mile stretch of Columbia Trail / Ken Lockwood Gorge. You will be provided backup support a roaming SAG team that can intersect the route at 4 or 5 locations where the route crosses public roads. Please call for their assistance if you encounter any situations where you may require additional support. You should plan to drive to either Califon or Long Valley, park there and then patrol back and forth on the trail several times. You should remain at your course marshalling assignment until you are reasonably sure all riders have past. (This position would not involve riding the entire route. You would just be patrolling the trail portion. Please call for their assistance if you encounter any situations where you may require additional support. The FIRST Ride Marshal should START AT DREW and leave with the last of the 100-mile riders to effectively sweep those riders until they reach Harry Dunham Park (HD); which is approximately mile 24.6. The SECOND AND THIRD Ride Marshals will START AT Harry Dunham Park (HD) and ride the course out and back to HD; which is at approximately mile 83.9 of the course. In this way, none of the Ride Marshals are responsible for riding the whole course.
